September 8: As the Crow Flies – A 30 day drawing project. September 2015

There have been  Jays nesting in a corner of a local school playing field for several years, and the rare spottings of these  majestically beautiful birds on the way to school was always quite astonishing. I love the way Brian Vesey-Fitzgerald F.L.S., author of the narrative in my Ladybird book, condems this bird as a screeching, annoying bully, their and even a murderer! and finishes the paragraph by telling us ‘Jays are also very fond of green peas.’ A bit like telling us that jack the ripper enjoyed earl grey tea at breakfast.

On another note, I sold the Robin sketch earlier this week and he/she has migrated south to a new home.
